Why won't my Yanmar reach redline and what should I do about it?
During survey it was noted that my Yanmar 4JH3E was only able to achieve about 3400 RPM at WOT. The plackard on the motor says 36.8 kW (49 HP) at 3650 RPM continuous, and 41.2 kW (55 HP) at 3800 RPM max output. It was also noted that the throttle lever was very stiff.
I thought maybe it was just not reaching max RPM because the lever was so stiff it wasn't actually reaching WOT.
